Sweet Chestnut - Guardian of the Broken Heart

Sweet Chestnut steps forward this week - with a profound message
and awareness. One of the areas of life that we are perhaps reluctant
to truly look at and appreciate is the area of pain. Pain can be
intensely physical. It can also be intensely emotional and psychological.
Pain is our great teacher. Pain is the Soul talking to us in a way that
we cannot ignore. Pain tells us that we are 'off track'.

One of the initiations that we invariably pass through along the path
of our awakening is the opening of the Heart. This can happen
in stages, and it can happen through an extreme experience
that changes us forever. We can be reached by
the Light in so far as we are open to the light. It does not matter how
the Light seeks to heal us, or teach us, or awaken us, if we are not
open the connection cannot be made. When we intend to progress,
when we will to learn - then we set the momentum for our own
unfolding. Christ stated that for him to heal it was necessary for
the person presenting to willingly perform an act of co-creation with
him. It was the willingness of the person that allowed them to heal.
Healing, even in the physical presence of Christ could not take place
without the willingness, the co-operation of the person needing healing.
When Christ said to the paralyzed man 'Take up your bed and walk."
that man had to have the knowing and willingness to get up and take
up his bed and walk.

We are programmed to learn and to wake up. We each have our own
rhythm along which we are moving. If we are not listening that we
receive wake up calls from the Divine.
A question I have been asked is "Why is it when we are doing everything
we can do to wake up, that we are still 'hit' with extremely painful
experiences. The answer to that is because we are ready to navigate
through them and to reap the reward.
The opening of the Heart comes many times through heartache, or
through the extreme experience of having our hearts broken - in a very
real sense our hearts are being broken open. For us to truly be
connected to the Divine flow we must have an open heart - a heart that
knows pain, knows loss, and can truly be compassionate because of
that.

In Shamanic practices there is a stage or initiation which is called
dismemberment. This does not mean literal dismemberment - it does
mean 'being taken apart completely' so that our assemblage point, or
point within us that holds our reality in place is broken open. This
can be a very extreme experience and coming out of that will involve
'remaking' our lives with new concepts and new and deeper values.
I believe we move into more and more fluidity, that we move away from
having a center that holds concepts. I believe our center becomes simply
a conduit through which the Divine energies flow. When there is
absolutely no obstruction to that flow then we are Awake or Open.

Sweet Chestnut is the Guardian of the Broken Heart. It guides us through
the deepest darkest places where all meaning is being disassembled
within us - and holds the space for us to reassemble to a higher
frequency and ultimately to a higher point of being 'useful' as a
conduit for the Light to flow through us into the material worlds.
